実務領域

We understand that in many corporations an information system department takes care of the operations of information systems including study, designing, development and maintenance of business applications, OS and hardware, assigning in-house staff to manage each layer. As far as infrastructure environments of LAN, WAN, voice, Internet and data center are concerned, we think many organizations are struggling to secure sufficient human resources and have to rely heavily on vendors.

We can provide our support in this particular weak area.

We take care mainly of infrastructures as s a member of our client’s information systems unit and help our client select vendors or take necessary controls.

Example of our work

A foreign fine jewelry company

Client challenge

The company, operating its network efficiently with a small staff, owns a server infrastructure over private cloud network.
At the time of our consultation, the company was undertaking a large project to renew its internal workflow, while continuing its normal businesses.
The client, though being heavily involved in the project management of the upper layers, had to carry out the network renewal at the same time.

Discovery

As for the network renewal, a certain global carrier had already been selected in accordance with an agreement made by the headquarters, with the decision that the company would use the global network as well as domestic network in Japan.
It became clear that the delivery management (e.g. scheduling of the network implementation) and the end-user support were important matters as part of the project management. In addition, we found that the personnel responsible for designing network infrastructure and interfacing with telecom carriers on technical matters were potentially insufficient in the project.

Recommendation

We recommended that the client keep a consultant who has sufficient technical expertise to be able to deliver support for end-users and interface with telecom carriers, as well as to manage the project for network implementation.
The client appreciated our business experiences and we were asked to help their operations.

Impact

We were supposed to finish our support once the network renewal project was completed. However, the client assessed our capabilities in the support as satisfactory, asking us to continue our support not only for consulting services but also in other projects in the areas relevant to “network”.
